Leading an active career as a freelance orchestral player, Christiane Bunk (née Werner) is equally passionate about the harp as a solo and chamber music instrument.
She has played in different orchestras, including the MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Heeresmusikkorps Hannover, the Mittelsächsischen Philharmonie and the Leipziger Symphonieorchester.
As a natural performer Christiane Bunk likes to present the harp as a multi-faceted solo instrument. Her audience does not only listen to exclusive music but also gets to know about anecdotes, fun facts, and interesting information about the works, composers, and the harp.
Christiane Bunk gives concerts all over Germany and internationally with her Chamber music projects. She plays a lot of the classical chamber music repertoire with e.g. flute or violin but also likes to discover less frequently played repertoire and unusual instrumentations.
In 2017 was found her Duo CORDE CELESTI with her music partner and guitarist Albrecht Bunk. They studied and performed an extensive repertoire of original works, and their own arrangements. Additionally, they collaborate with many composers from all over Europe writing for harp and guitar. Anthony Sidney (IT) and Holger Reuning (GER) just wrote a double concert for CORDE CELESTI.
Christiane Bunk is also a member of the mystic folk Band FAIRYTALE from Hannover. In 2021 they have recorded their first CD featuring the harp, called „Wintertales“.
After graduating from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig with a B. Mus. in 2017, she continued to study for a Master’s in Performance with Professor Maria Stange in Stuttgart. During her Master’s studies, she received a scholarship for two ERASMUS semesters: one with Gaëlle Thouvenin and Sébastien Horrer in Toulouse, France, and the other one with Sarah O‘Brien in Basel, Switzerland. She graduated with the highest distinction in 2019. In masterclasses Christiane Bunk had the honor to learn from renowned harpists such as Frédérique Cambreling, Prof. Maria Graf, Park Stickney, and Gabriella Dall’Olio.
She is also a graduate of the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with a Master’s Degree in Harp pedagogy.
Christiane Bunk is a harp teacher at the Städtische Musikschule Braunschweig. A harp class in Borna at the music school Leipziger Land is built up.
